A very interesting book. If you don’t know him, Oliver Sacks is a neurologist and author of a number of books (including Awakenings which was made into a movie with Robert de Niro and Robin Williams – Robin Williams played Dr. Sacks). This book is a series of articles about some of his more intersting patients (including the man who mistook his wife for a hat).
These stories (some of them at least) will blow your mind. Like the twins who can unerringly pick 6-figure primes but cannot do multiplication or the two people discussed who have lost the ability to make memories and are continually surprised to find themselves in the present (very much like Guy Pearce’s character in the excellent Memento
The book tails off somewhat towards the end which keeps it from making 5/5 but very good nonetheless and worth a read.
