AdBlock Plus

After reading A World of Endless Advertisements I thought it would be interesting to see the AdBlock Plus version next to the unblocked version.

How “ad-supported content” is supported without ads, I don’t know. But as Banksy says:

“Any advertisement in public space that gives you no choice whether you see it or not is yours. It belongs to you. It’s yours to take, re-arrange and re-use. Asking for permission is like asking to keep a rock someone just threw at your head.”

(Faintly amusingly I actually had difficulty writing this post because AdBlock blocked the images I was using because their name contained the word “ads”.)

If you are using the EasyElement subscriptions for Adblock Plus, You may want to update it and re-take your second screenshot

I use Filterset.G to keep up to date. Why, does EasyElement block the subscription box as well?

And is that a good thing?

Filterset.G is kind of redundant now. In fact, it’s recommended not to use it. EasyElement removes some of the white space and other bits left by the ads after they’ve been removed - it’s aimed at cleaning up pages a bit more after ad removal. It makes some sites look better, but a couple I was using went a bit wierd so I use just the standard EasyList subscription right now.
